Profile of the subject

Logistic and Supply-chain management

This subject takes an hopistic approach to supply chain management, where each module builds on the knowledge of the previous one with interconnected content to help build on students' understanding and knowledge of supply chain management and logistics. The course also focuses on hands-on, real-world experience with selected software applications that studnets will gain practical experience applicable in any business environment and situation. Special focus is given to both practical and strategic perspectives, this revised and updated fourth edition offers readers a balanced and integrated presentation of Logistics and Supply Chain Management concepts, practices, technologies, and applications. One of the key objectives is also to enhance the students’ critical thinking skills and creative abilities, so that they are capable to sense and forecast future potential changes, as well as to pro-actively re-design their strategies to respond to the upcoming trends.
The teaching and learning practices of the course combine the analyses of theoretical concepts with the discussion of case studies in order to also assist students to develop their skills and competencies to design and implement competitive strategies that address the environmental challenges and trends created to contemporary organizations.

Learning outcomes:

Upon the completion of this course, the students should be able to:

  • Identify and evaluate critical issues in the contemporary economy and propose appropriate strategies to respond to these critical issues concerning logistic and supply chain management,
  • Demonstrate knowledge of logistic and supply chain management theories and practices employed in the industry
  • Analyze an organization’s complex challenges in the context of supply, supply chain and logistic as an integral part of it.
  • Propose competitive approach to supply chain management to be developed and implemented by organizations,
  • Propose leadership development strategies in logistic and supply chain management,
  • Prepare and present a case study analysis project on an organization.

Teaching methods: This course will be delivered by means of lectures and case studies workshops. Theoretical background will be introduced during the lectures, which in turn will constitute the basis for the case studies workshops and classroom discussions. The case studies workshops will focus on developing conceptual, managerial and analytical skills through practical activities to be conducted online and offline. You will also undertake assessments which are designed to help you demonstrate your strengths in a number of ways. More specifically a number of methods are used, including essays, assignments, presentations, portfolios of work, and exams.
