The aim of this course is to provide MBA students with a comprehensive understanding of the evolving business landscape concerning Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, and sustainability practices. Through theoretical frameworks, case studies, and practical applications, students will gain insights into the importance of integrating CSR, ESG, and sustainability into business strategies for long-term success and societal impact.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Evaluate the significance of CSR, ESG, and sustainability in the contemporary business environment.
  2. Analyze the ethical, social, and environmental implications of business decisions.
  3. Identify and assess the frameworks and standards for measuring and reporting CSR, ESG, and sustainability performance.
  4. Formulate strategies for integrating CSR, ESG, and sustainability principles into business operations and stakeholder management.
  5. Critically assess case studies and real-world examples to understand the challenges and opportunities associated with implementing CSR, ESG, and sustainability practices.
Subject Contents:

The course content is structured as follows:

  1. Introduction to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
  2. Understanding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Principles
  3. Business Ethics and Stakeholder Theory
  4. Frameworks for CSR, ESG, and Sustainability Reporting (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD)
  5. Integrating Sustainability into Business Strategy
  6. Sustainable Supply Chain Management
  7. Socially Responsible Investing and Impact Investing
  8. Corporate Governance and Board Diversity
  9. CSR and ESG Risks and Opportunities
  10. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Business Contributions
  11. Innovation for Sustainability
  12. Corporate Citizenship and Community Engagement
Teaching Methods and Learning Activities: The module will be taught by a mixture of lectures and seminar components. Lectures to introduce theoretical concepts and frameworks.
